M’s Personal Packing List (All Inclusive.)

This is my personal packing list; my husband uses it too. I rarely deviate from it.

Travel Documents:

  • Passport

  • Driver’s license

  • Printed plane, train, and rental car documents

  • Photocopies or photos of passport

  • Printed reservations of hotel confirmation

  • Travel and Health insurance cards

*Using electronic documents on our phones is efficient; packing printed travel documents tucked away in your luggage is essential, even if you never need them. They become critical should you lose your phone or access to electronic documents.

Basic Clothing List:

3 or 4 Tops

  • One or two casual & one or two dressy.

  • Consider the weather; adjust sleeve length or add layering.

3 Bottoms

  • Pack two, and wear one; two casual and one dressy

1 Pair of Jammies

  • Unless you want to save more space, leave them behind; you get the idea.

Undergarments

  • 5 Pair of underwear

  • 2 Bras (If you wear them.)

Yep, 5, even if you are gone for three weeks.

Wash them at the end of each day and hang them to dry.

5 Pairs of Socks!

-Get the thinnest possible and wash them at night.

-Consider if you need stockings for dressing up.

2 Pairs of Shoes

-Pack one, wear one,

1 Cover-up *(Jacket, Sweater, or Coat)

-Wear on the plane.

Clothing Details:

Wearing only one color top, like black, keeps it simple. Pop in an additional color for fun. Keep all casual and dressy tops the same color, and be sure they match your bottoms.

-Consider two pant styles. Depending on the season, you could wear full-length or capris. You can switch it up with a skirt or shorts.

-Create a dressy outfit with tops, bottoms, and accessories. (I also pack a thin black wrap dress.)

Optional Clothing Items:

2 Scarves/ties for accessorizing. Consider the weather. Pack three light or heavy scarves, depending on the weather, to wear as a pop of color. They are also helpful in the summer to cover shoulders when visiting inside churches.

Swimming attire

Dress (If you wear them.)

Jewelry! (Wear your favorite earrings, nose rings, toe rings, and a necklace out the door! Don't pack any other jewelry.)

Belts! (If you need one, wear it! But remember, security at most airports requests that you remove them.)

Hat? (Consider a collapsable or buy one on the trip.)

*Remember, you can go to the pharmacy or store to get what you do not bring.
